Internal Medicine Residency Program Description

Comprehensive Internal Medicine Training: Focused on fundamental skills with strong community exposure. Residents will complete a minimum of 2–3 community rotations.

Diverse Subspecialty Rotations: Hands-on experience in nephrology, cardiology, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, geriatrics, neurology, critical care, and oncology at Royal Inland Hospital.

Integrated Specialty Exposure: Additional training in rheumatology, endocrinology, and hematology, primarily at partnered sites in Kelowna.

Ambulatory & Community-Based Learning: Early emphasis on ambulatory skills, with at least one dedicated ambulatory rotation per year.

Community & Outreach Clinics: Opportunities to work alongside physicians serving rural, remote, and Indigenous populations.

Rural & Remote Training Opportunities: Core Internal Medicine rotations available at affiliated community partner sites, including Cranbrook, Salmon Arm, Trail, and Vernon, for those interested in rural practice.

Travel: Residents will be based in Kamloops for 11 blocks per year unless they choose to incorporate additional community rotations.
